THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND JUNCTION HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ABOVE REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 AM FRIDAY.
TIMING: FOR THE ADVISORY, THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. FOR THE WATCH, FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.
ELEVATION: FOR THE ADVISORY…ABOVE 9000 FEET. FOR THE WATCH…STARTING ABOVE 8000 FEET BEFORE DROPPING TO MOUNTAIN BASES.
SNOW ACCUMULATION: 4 TO 9 INCHES IN THE ADVISORY. FOR THE WATCH…12 TO 16 INCHES POSSIBLE WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.
WINDS: SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS GUSTING TO 30 MPH.
FOR THE WATCH…SOUTHWEST WINDS GUSTING TO 40 MPH BECOMING WESTERLY WITH GUSTS TO 20 MPH SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING.
VISIBILITY: RESTRICTED TO LESS THAN ONE MILE AT TIMES IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.
IMPACTS: MOUNTAIN TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS AT TIMES WITH ICY SNOWPACKED ROADS AND AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW.
