THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND JUNCTION HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH FOR HEAVY SNOW WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.
* LOCATIONS INCLUDE THE CITIES OF ASPEN, VAIL, SNOWMASS, CRESTED BUTTE…
* TIMING…LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOWFALL WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON SUNDAY. A FEW SNOW SHOWERS WILL LINGER THROUGH NOON ON SUNDAY. AFTER A BREAK IN THE PRECIPITATION ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON SNOW WILL RESUME ON SUNDAY EVENING AND LAST THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.
* SNOW ACCUMULATION AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES WILL FALL THIS EVENING BRINGING STORM TOTALS TO 10 TO 20 INCHES. AFTER A BREAK IN THE SNOWFALL ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON…10 TO 20 INCHES MAY FALL BETWEEN SUNDAY EVENING AND TUESDAY MORNING.
* WINDS…SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH.
* IMPACTS…MOUNTAIN ROADWAYS WILL BE SNOW PACKED WITH WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS CONTINUING THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED TO UNDER A HALF MILE AT TIMES DURING THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL.
